In this video, I will show you how to build a simple easter basket that looks amazing, and the best thing is that it only takes about 10 minutes to make one! Let´s start!

This blog post is sponsored by Acmer and their P3 2-in-1 laser Engraver.

Materials

You will only need a few things to build these cute easter baskets:

  • MDF wood 3mm (or similar wood that is 3mm thick)
  • Acrylic paint
  • A laser cutter (I use the Acmer P3)
  • Some wood glue.
  • The laser cutting files (Download here)

Paint the Wood

The first thing that needs to be done is to paint the wood. I simply used some acrylic paint and a small roller to evenly apply the paint.

You don´t need to apply a primer to the MDF wood before applying the acrylic paint. The paint will stick just fine to the MDF wood.

You can use metallic paint, as I did here, or any other acrylic paint. It´s important that you use water-based paint (like acrylic paint) to avoid potential issues later on when you laser cut the wood.

Let the paint dry before you move on to the next step.

Cut the Wood

Next, you need to cut and engrave the wood.

I used the Acmer P3 for this.

Make sure that the laser cuts the wood cleanly, and set the engraving strength of your laser just right to remove the paint and darken the wood underneath.

Assemble the Basket

The assembly process is pretty straightforward.

Simply apply some glue to the joints and then press them in place. Make sure to orient them in such a way that the painted sides point outwards.

Then glue in the front and finally the bottom.

You can also add some paper, as I did here, to decorate the basket before you fill it with sweets.

Here is the final result.
